Aligned Sideswipe concept art

Postby Sabrblade » Sun Sep 09, 2012 7:49 pm

Here's something of interest. Ya'll know about the Binder of Revelation, right? If no, it's basically the large production bible/continuity bible Hasbro's created for the Aligned continuity, encompassing War for Cybertron, Exodus, Prime, Exiles, Rescue Bots, Fall of Cybertron, etc.

Among the many contents of this book are pieces of artwork for the various characters of this continuity. The few that have been shown to the online fandom thus far are Optimus Prime and Prima, with some others shown at panels at BotCon 2010 and 2011. Based on the Optimus and Prima ones, we can probably assume that these character designs don't resemble any specific versions of these characters, but still look like who they're supposed to be. Like, notice how the one of Optimus represents Aligned Optimus Prime, yet doesn't look exactly like his TF: Prime design.

That said, let's dive into this. Artist Emiliano Santalucia posted something on his blog way back in June that we've now finally taken notice of. What has he posted? None other than concept art of Aligned Sideswipe that he submitted to Hasbro for the Binder. Each image can be clicked for full size.

I'm posting this here instead of news due to how old it is.

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” -- C.S. Lewis

1. I like this OP better than the one in the show
2. Like Ironhide, Bumblebee, Ratchet, and Megatron, Sideswipe combines movie and G1 versions of the character into one look

I like this. I can see WFC Sideswipe eventually evolving into a form similar to this one.

Looks almost exactly like his Universe toy's altmode, even.
