Thing is, there's several Power Rangers discussion threads here, all dealing with a certain aspect of the series. Like, there's one for Samurai, one for continuity, one for the toys, this one for the DVDs, one for MMPR 2010, etc.

Either all these need a merge or a new general one can be made. And not just for PR, but for Tokusatsu in general, so we can cover everything without going off topic.

To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. I don't remember watching that T.M.N.T. series...I do remember all the negative viewer (my friends) reviews it got. I'll have to pick it up at some point.

V.R. Troopers...ah the 90's. Might have to get that series, too.

This past Wednesday we brought you Shout! Factory's press release announcing the December 3rd debut of a Shout! Select online exclusive release for "Power Rangers Legacy: The First 20 Years," a 98-DVD limited set with every episode from Mighty Morphin all the way to Megaforce. There have been two questions we've received over and over since we posted that press release: one is "how much will it cost?," and the answer to that is simply "Shout! hasn't finalized the price yet." We'll let you know when they do!

The other question we keep getting is, "how do the discs fit into the 'Red Ranger helmet' packaging?" We brought that question to our friends at Shout! Factory, and in response they sent us the below image of a promotional postcard they are creating for the Legacy collection. It contains a description VERY similar to the wording of the press release, but confirming what we had heard elsewhere: there will be 2000 copies of the limited edition Legacy set made. There are some mock-up images on the postcard, and one of them says "4000"...but that was just an example number for the mock-up. The final decision was to create a total of 2000 Legacy collection packages.

And, as you can see, the mock-up images at the bottom of that postcard show off exactly how the discs will go into the "helmet": the 98 DVDs are kept in ten different tins, which are made up to look like Power Coins! Those tins fit into slots on the back of the helmet. And, in the base of the helmet, is a slot for a companion booklet, which will slide into the back of the base. Also, as Shout!'s DVD producer Brian Ward explained in an interview at the San Diego Comic Con, "there are two empty slots for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. So if you have those discs from Fox, you can just slide them right in, and you've got the first 20 years' worth of episodes, AND the two movies, right there in one helmet." How big is the "helmet" packaging? Looking at Shout!'s Instagram picture, it looks like it might be a tad bigger than the real helmet! Very cool, and our thanks to the folks at Shout! Factory for their help with this. Stay tuned for more Legacy updates as further developments occur.

One more note: for those of you who can't afford this item (we personally expect it to be quite expensive!), or who already have some or all of the season sets previously available on DVD, or otherwise just prefer the smaller packages, Shout! has tweeted word that "The individual seasons are still coming out" for all the various Power Rangers teams from Lightspeed Rescue and beyond. [UPDATE 7/23: Shout! has confirmed to us that they are also planning on further "smaller-than- Legacy" multi-season boxsets, with extras included, as well.] Stay tuned for announcements of those items on down the road!

I'm hoping they're just extras pertaining specifically to Samurai, Super Samurai, and Megaforce since I'd rather keep collecting the Megasets and don't want to double dip on the Legacy set (since it's likely to be outrageously expensive being 98 discs and so exclusive). The extras are the main reason I'd go for the Legacy set since I've already got the Seasons 1-7 Megaset.

I wouldn't mind having VR Troopers, was my favorite from Saban. Well, maybe Mystic Knights of Tirnanog was cool too, but VR Troopers was by far the best.
