How is RID 2015?

Postby Wing Saber » Fri Jul 31, 2015 3:22 am

I haven't seen any of the new show yet, I was hoping to find out how it is before watching?
How does it compare to Prime and other past shows?

It's fun. Lots of personality and character exploration. The first season doesn't have a whole lot of overarching story focus to it, but neither did Prime's first season nor Beast Wars's first season, and I definitely put it above Prime's first season (which I could barely stand compared to Prime's vastly superior second and third seasons). It has a similar feel to Animated, but just a tad more serious (it's still funny, but not quite as funny as Animated tended to be). The only thing I didn't much like at all was the season finale, but overall, I like the show.

We got a thread for watching all 26 episodes of season 1 here.
"When there's gold feathers, punch behind you!!"

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” -- C.S. Lewis

I agree with everything Sabrblade said there, about it being almost like animated.

I just finished my DVD set of season 1, my biggest disappointment about the entire show so far is the lack of decent toys, especially for amazing decepticons like kickback, chopshop, and others, that we are getting. In that regard animated has it beat hands down, since we got tons of great animated toys when the show was running.

Biggest unanswered question I have so far about the plot is something Megatronus said about getting his power from someone else, and since Unicron is KOd during Prime and RID 2015 I have a feeling its not Unicron...

Will be getting DVD season 2 set when it comes out, the show is fun once you get into it.

EDIT: by my lack of decent toys comment, I mean that alot of them we are getting are one steppers and such, however, I will note that the good ones we get are pretty good, in the warrior class, just wish they had done it more like animated and given us some decent voyager class maybe as well.
