Voices for the next movie {SPOILERS}

Postby Wing Saber » Mon Nov 04, 2013 8:58 pm

With some of the toy listings revealing some likely characters, I thought I'd cast my vote as to who I'd like to voice said characters.

First up: Lockdown. The Decepticon bounty hunter. If this Lockdown is to be anything like the Animated counterpart: I vote Liam Neeson.

Secondly, Galvatron. Now, this is a tricky one. But, ultimately, I think I found the perfect voice: Benedict Cumberbatch Don't believe me? Go watch the Main Trailer for the next The Hobbit. His voice is that of Smaug at the end. It is perfect.

As Barricade demonstrated, the movies don't always stick with outside material. Shockwave was an excellent demonstration of that too.

I like it! I like it a lot!

Haven't seen anything with him, but I stand by my choice for Benedict Cumberbatch!

Nope.
After having seen Thor: The Dark World, Christopher Eccleston would also make a good Decepticon voice.

I wonder how nuts the fandom would go if someone other than Gregg Berger or David Kaye were cast as the voice of Grimlock. Like, if they just cast a typical celebrity film actor like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone or Vin Diesel, or maybe even Brad Garrett (who also happens to have voiced G1 Trypticon). ;)
"When there's gold feathers, punch behind you!!"

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” -- C.S. Lewis

Honestly it wouldn't bother me because (like I've said a million times before) it's not a g1 movie and fans who would gripe over it would mostly be geewhiners anyway and who really gives a slag about those idiots anyway

This is one of those strange cases that I was thinking about last night. When it comes to Gimelock's voiced appearances my mind goes to Gregg Berger, while David Kaye was good his portrayal just isn't memorable to me.

Having new takes on a character are always good, however there are some characters that are hard to separate form the voice actor (i.e. Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime. We all remember the outcry to have Peter and not George Clooney).
I have no problem with a "film actor" voicing any of the characters as long as it fits the portrayal.

As for Grimloick, my dream casting for a new voice would be Macho Man Randy Savage, if he was still alive.
