Which characters had the best voices? Let's compare!

Postby Sabrblade » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:32 am

Have you ever wanted to compare the different voices of similar characters? Well, now you can! With BehindTheVoiceActors.com's Transformers Voice Compare section. 8-)

So, who do you say has the best voice for each character?

“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” -- C.S. Lewis

 Wow, you went through the Voice Compare and picked all those? Yikes! I didn't expect such a large amount all at once (mostly just few at a time is what I was anticipating). Kudos to all of that, man. 8-)

Easy picks: Optimus (Cullen), Shockwave (Burton)
HARDEST CHOICE ON LIST: Megatron... Megatron has so many good voice actors, but I have to go with these for top 5:

Welker for G1, Burton for Animated, Tatasciore for WFC, Weaving for Bayformers, and Kaye (Energon and BW) in that order from 1st to 5th. Devall was decent for Cybertron, but Kaye wins for Energon voice!

I love Frank Welker Soundwave, after I first got the G1 Movie I looked up more clips just to listen to him,
and I think Singleton's sounds good.

Bennett under the Soundwave effect makes a great TF voice but probably for another character.

Always thought the original Megatron was good but should be louder with the same effect.

I have never heard Starscream done the way I imagine him.

I like Tatasciore as Omega but I couldn't hear it clearly enough so I'm going to run it later tonight without any background noise.

Ironhide I liked listening to Szarabajka

Warpath i think Price

Gee I do like Wittenberg for Mirage

Carmel Bruticus works

I liked the Norris video game Red Alert clip

There are some characters I don't know enough about to have an idea what voice would seem best.
Last night I got on the side scroll 'where do you want to go next' part and never saw the full size of the page.

Don't change any of those front doors.

Soundwave - Frank Welker (with Garry Chalk as a good second).
Rodimus Prime - Judd Nelson (with Ted Schwartz as a good second).
Jazz - Scatman Crothers (with Wally Burr as a good second).
Bumblebee - Dan Gilvezan (with Mark Ryan as a good second).
Ironhide - Jess Harnell (with Peter Cullen as a good second).
Ratchet - Jeffrey Combs (with Robert Foxworth as a good second).
Arcee - Sumalee Montano (with Susan Blue as a good second).
Ultra Magnus - Robert Stack (with Kim Strauss as a good second).
Galvatron - Leonard Nimoy (with Frank Welker as a good second).

BlackArachnia - Cree Summer (with Venus Terzo as a good second).
Hot Shot - Brent Miller (with Kirby Morrow as a good second).
Sideswipe - James Remar (with Andre Sogliuzzo as a good second).

By the way, have you guys noticed that most voice examples with the original voice-actors are from the 86 movie?
And then I heard Jazz' voice clip from the movie I actually waited to hear "This is Jazz. A ginourmous weird-looking planet just showed up in the orbit of Cybertron." (I think I got the line correct), but it cut short right before that. :P

I guess it's because is one of (if not the) most memorable parts of the G1 cartoon.
